Meet Lesley Taylor: Alpine Bank operations supervisor, mom, cancer survivor, and team captain for Banking on a Cure.
Lesley moved to Glenwood Springs from Melbourne, Florida, in August 2014. In December, she discovered a lump in her breast. In January 2015, she underwent a lumpectomy at Valley View Hospital. Twenty weeks of chemotherapy followed, then six weeks of radiation. Through it all, the integrated therapies at the Calaway • Young Cancer Center provided hope, comfort and community for Lesley during her fight.
“This place is amazing. If I had gotten sick in Florida, I would’ve just been a number,” says Lesley. “We have a program at Valley View Hospital that equals the Cancer Centers of America integrated therapies program, and it is tremendous that it’s available in our small local community.” Lesley benefited from the massage, coffee walks and meeting with the nutritionist. She adds that many people love the yoga and tai chi.
How will you rally with Lesley and Banking on a Cure? Please join her and family: husband Chris, son Aaron (17) and daughter Peyton (14), on Saturday, September 19 for a walk or a bike ride. If you can’t join the Alpine Bank team, please donate, support a participant or become a sponsor. Thank you!
On Saturday, September 24, 2016, our community will come together for the fifth annual Rally the Valley to support patients at the Calaway • Young Cancer Center at Valley View. We will participate in a 25-mile bike ride, a 4-mile walk through downtown Glenwood Springs along the river trail or a 1.5- mile family walk - Peyton's Parade. All participants will come together for the Rally Party in Sayre Park. The party will be a treat for all with fabulous food, a beer garden and a kid’s zone with bouncy houses and more! Interactive booths on cancer prevention and health will be both educational and inspirational.
I/we invite you to join us today! You can join our team by registering to participate or by making a donation. The funds we raise will help patients receive the healing touch of massage, ease the symptoms of cancer treatment through acupuncture and find companionship and strength through counseling and support groups. By donating to the Rally Fund, you will ensure a comprehensive cancer program that treats the whole person. Rally for anyone facing a diagnosis of Cancer. Rally for those who have survived cancer. Rally for those who we have lost. Rally to support the best cancer care for our community.
